We’ve written about the smallest houses in the world on the occasion of the Jay Shafer’s visit in Poland. This time we have the opportunity to write about our native project that has been recently implemented here in Poland.

It is the „Keret House” – an art instalation that has been opened last month in Warsaw. The name of the instalation comes from the name of the Israeli writer Edgar Keret, who became the ambassador and symbolic inhabitant of the house. The building is probably the narrowest house in the world. The house has been built in the slot with a width from 152 to 92 centimeter, between the pre-war apartment house at Å»elazna 74 street and the bloc from communist times at ChÅ‚odna 22 street, in Warsaw, near the city center.

It is equipped with all the functional elements, so it is possible to live there. Of course it is something special. It is said that artists and intellectuals from all around the world will be invited to live and create periodically in this place. „Keret House” is designed by an architect Jakub SzczÄ™sny. The author says that at first it seems that the construction of living space within such premise is impossible and „Keret House” is to contradict that false image, simultaneously broadening the concept of impossible architecture. „Keret House” is to stimulate cultural life of the district. It has also the potential to become a symbol of modern Warsaw.

Showing these small architectural pieces we wonder whether we would be able to live in such a small area. We also wonder how many of you would be able to do it? And maybe some of you knows a smaller residential spaces?

W ubiegÅ‚ym miesiÄ…cu w Warszawie otwarty zostaÅ‚ „Dom Kereta”. Nazwa realizacji pochodzi od nazwiska izraelskiego pisarza Edgara Kereta, który zostaÅ‚ jej ambasadorem i symbolicznym lokatorem. Budowla jest najprawdopodobniej najwęższym domem Å›wiata. ZostaÅ‚ on wyposażony we wszystkie funkcjonalne elementy. W „Domu Kereta” bÄ™dÄ… mogli mieszkać i tworzyć zaproszeni artyÅ›ci i intelektualiÅ›ci z caÅ‚ego Å›wiata. Autorem projektu jest architekt Jakub SzczÄ™sny. Autor mówi o swej realizacji, że na pierwszy rzut oka wydaje siÄ™, że zbudowanie na tak wÄ…skiej dziaÅ‚ce przestrzeni do życia jest niewykonalne. Dom Kereta ma znosić to wyobrażenie, poszerzajÄ…c jednoczeÅ›nie pojÄ™cie architektury niemożliwej. Realizacja ma stymulować życie kulturalne dzielnicy. Ma też szanse stać siÄ™ symbolem współczesnej Warszawy.

Przy okazji tych niewielkich realizacji architektonicznych zastanawiamy się czy my bylibyśmy w stanie funkcjonować na tak małej powierzchni. Zastanawiamy się też ilu z was dałoby radę? A może ktoś z was słyszał o mniejszych przestrzeniach mieszkalnych?
